2009 Alexandria Earth Day Celebration
When: Alexandria Earth Day - Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Where: Ben Brenman Park, Alexandria
The theme of each of these tablings will be veganism/vegetarianism and its impact on global warming. All material offered to the public will be on this subject.
2009 Holmes Run Park Cleanup
In an effort to keep the park clean and to protect wildlife, Action for Animals Network has adopted part of Holmes Run Park in Alexandria, Virginia. Under the Adopt-a-Park Program, AAN volunteers will be responsible for keeping an area of Holmes Run Park free of trash for a period from June to November. This will involve spending about one hour each Sunday picking up trash in the park.

We are also doing this because there is a contingency in the neighborhood which calls itself "Parks for People". These folks would like to turn what is now a natural area with an abundance of wildlife into a more manicured park. The area we have adopted encompasses a wooded area that we hope will continue to remain in its present state and to allow wildlife to flourish.
